Join us for an in-depth exploration of regional sweet breads and pita breads, the way you may have never tasted them before! In this special class and short workshop, you will learn about some of the beloved pastry and bread traditions of the Black Sea region: From Ukraine and Georgia, from Turkey to Armenia.
Using authentic ingredients and spices we will explore the history of baking in the region and how being so close to the "cradle of grain growing" shaped the region, the people and unique culinary traditions. Discussion will revolve around the use of regional adaptations, techniques for making an original sweet bread and special baking techniques for classic pita bread.
Recipes are send out in advance so you can bake along parts of the class or just watch the demo and join the discussion. If you cannot attend live, a link to the recording will be sent within 24 hours of the end of the workshop.
All proceeds will be donated equally to the emergency relief efforts of World Central Kitchen, and UNICEF Ukraine, and the amount raised will be shared in the email with the recording link after the workshop.
Suggested donation for this workshop is $45 per kitchen but please give what you can. No matter if you can give $5 or $75 (or more), all are welcome. Please join us as we celebrate the diverse baking traditions from the Black Sea region!
Full Payment is due upon registering for a class. We will offer a recording of the class for all registered participants so you can also watch this session at your leisure, even if you cannot attend the class on Sunday.
