Join us for a day filled with hands-on bread baking & learning from the pro's. Randy George is the owner and acclaimed baker at Red Hend Baking Co., one of the best-known artisan bakeries in Vermont. He's also know for his fun and approachable style of teaching, so expect to get your hands in the dough and learn a ton in this workshop. We dive right into mixing, shaping and proofing of bread, score and bake different types of breads, learn about their unique flavor notes and finally taste the handcrafted breads we made with different local grains.

The tasting session will give you an introduction into food pairing and flavor development and we conclude the class with some time for discussion and Q&A. You will go home with a good understanding of the fundamentals of bread baking and ideas for your baking journey. Being in a small group you can be sure to get individual attention when learning the craft of baking. 

This intensive workshop is open to all levels, but especially suited for beginner and advanced-beginners who want to refine their skills.

We are thrilled to welcome one of Vermont's own bakers and expert on bread making back to the bakehouse to teach this hands-on class, which we keep at a max. of 9 students. 

Join us for a fun and informative class in our northern Vermont bakehouse and return home with a new understanding (and appreciation!) of hand-made, classic breads. 

This class is taught by Randy George and Heike Meyer of Brotbakery will assist and hold the interactive bread tasting. 

About Randy:

Randy George founded and co-owns Red Hen Baking Co. located in Middlesex, VT.  In operation since 1999, Red Hen specializes in certified organic, hearth-baked breads and pastries made from locally grown grains. Randy and his team of 45 bakers deliver artisan breads around Vermont seven days a week. You can also find his breads at the Montpelier Farmers' Market.

Please be aware of our class and cancellation policy:

- Full Payment is due upon registering for a class. We understand that there will be circumstances whereby you will need to cancel your course or change the date. Given 30 days or more notice we are happy to offer a full refund minus booking fees (10% of ticket price) or credit towards another class at Brot Bakehouse School and Kitchen, valid for 3 years.

- If we need to postpone or cancel a class, either a full refund will be given, or you can use your payment as a credit towards any future class or workshop, no expiration date.

- If you need to cancel 30 days before class date a full refund minus booking fees (10% of ticket price) will be offered if we can refill your booking. Otherwise no refund can be issued but we can offer a class credit; valid for 3 years.

- If you need to cancel 24 hours before class no refund can be issued.
