Join us in-person at the bakehouse for a day of intensive studies around the craft of sourdough bread baking. This is a level 0-1 class, so if you are an absolute beginner (never baked with sourdough before), or already experimented with some sourdough baking and want to go deeper, this class is for you. Some general baking experience is necessary.

In this workshop you will not only explore the basic science of baking with sourdough, but also learn about what make sourdough bread so unique and delicious.

We will be making one classic bread recipes (and go through the various steps), while also discussing all aspects of making, feeding and maintaining a starter culture for bread baking. Maintaining a starter culture is easy and manageable for all bakers, and  we'll discuss different options that work for your schedule.

We will also discuss the tools of sourdough management, and how develop certain properties in your starter culture. We finish the class with a guided bread tasting, where we pair different foods and flavors with our bread and explore the basics of food pairing.

Discover the beauty of sourdough in this one-day intensive workshop, held in the inspiring surroundings of the Vermont bakehouse, where we invite you to unwind and immerse in the craft of baking.

This is our most popular class and is offered twice every year - please register early. Please note that the October class happens during peak holiday time in Vermont due to the fall foliage. Accommodation usually fills up early.  Unsure if this class is for you? Email us with any questions.
