Our Original German Lebkuchen (honey cakes) are fermented with our own honey and spice mix. Truly unique, these dry rye cookies with almonds improve with age but will get harder too, so if you like them soft you would need to store them in a tin box.
Pair with a hot chocolate or Rüdesheimer Coffee on a cold winter day!
Ingredients (all organic, except the eggs, which are local & pastured):
honey (courtesy of our bees), rye flour, wheat flour, local pasture eggs, cane sugar, salt, lemon juice, orange and citron, pottash, hartshorn salt, soda
1 bag contains 2 plain Lebkuchen & 2 chocolate dipped Lebkuchen
Pickup only at this time. Our Address: Brotbakery, 38 Meade Rd. in Fairfax, Vermont - please use the parking spaces opposite the stone house facing the woods and come up to the bakehouse via the walkway along the barn, up to the porch. The bakery door is next to the stone bread oven.
